In essence, the whole of the formulas, curves, tables etc. are based on metric units, but for the convenience of readers employing non-metric units, the appendix contains tables of conversion factors, and scales In such units have been added to the diagrams; they thus show both systems of units. In the case of formulas, in which a given constant applies when metric units are used, also given the corresponding factor for non-metric units based on the British foot and pound. For practical purposes, the results thus obtained are applicable for such U.S.A. units, since the differences are negligible.
